Hi, my name is James Murphy and I am the Restorative Conversation Assistant. I am returning to the Aurora Public Schools after 10 years. Before coming to Edna and John W. Mosley P-8, I worked at Excelsior Youth Center for the last ten years as Counselor, Unit manager and Teacher. My main role there was to work with clients with substance abuse, mental health concerns, trauma, grief, and Psychological Disorders and behavior problems. I have extensive training in Cultural Competency, Gender Specific Treatment, Restorative Justice, Human Growth & Development, Suicide Prevention, and Offence Specific Supervision Certification. In my free time I love spending time with my wife of 28 years and grandchildren. My job at Edna and John Mosley P-8 is to teach the students coping and social skills in the classroom by guiding them to develop alternative ways to handle their difficulties within the classroom, also help the students develop a strong, healthy and adaptive sense of self- confidence and self-esteem, support the creation of a classroom environment that is supportive of a caring teacher-student relationship, in a businesslike and nonthreatening atmosphere, and help the students know what is expected of them to be successful in school and have clear expectations, rules, and protocols within the classroom. My community needs me to do my job.
