Hi, my name is Fay McCarthy, and I am a speech-language pathologist (SLP). This is my first year in Aurora Public Schools, and I am thrilled to be joining the Edna and John W. Mosley P-8 team! I started my career as an SLP in Wisconsin where I worked for five years in Milwaukee Public Schools. I came to Colorado two years ago and have been serving students with speech and language needs in Denver Public Schools. In my free time, I try to be with family and friends as much as possible. We also make sure our dog, Bucky, is as happy as can be! He loves hiking and taking trips to the mountains. The thing I am most excited about for the 2015-16 school year is getting to know my students and what motivates them to succeed. I also look forward to collaborating with the wonderful special education team here at Mosley. My job is to accelerate learning for every APS student, every day. I do my job by taking an individualized approach to learning, keeping in mind that every student learns in their own unique way. This is what drives my therapy sessions. I believe I can improve quality of life for my students by helping them to develop functional communication skills that will allow for more successful participation and engagement in classroom activities/curriculum. My community needs me to do my job.
