Shannon Blackard

Hi, my name is Shannon Blackard and this year, I will serve as the K-2 Reading Interventionist. I have been honored to be a part of Aurora Public Schools for the past 11 years. Before joining the Edna and John W. Mosley P-8 Team, I served as a Principal, Assistant Principal, and Coordinator of Early Childhood Education at several schools across the district. Most recently, I have been heading up our district’s After-School Expansion Project. Becoming a Reading Interventionist is a dream come true because I was a struggling reader during my own elementary school years. I am looking forward to helping students learn the strategies to become better readers but most of all, I want to instill in them a love of reading. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, skiing›, and watching my children play sports. My husband, Derrick, and I have been married 11 years. We have a 9 year old son named James and a 3 year old daughter named Brianna. My job is to accelerate learning for every APS student, every day. I do my job by coordinating READ plan data and implementing responsive reading interventions. My community needs me to do my job.
